Western Cape Commissioner for Children, Christina Nomdo, met with the child government monitors for a discussion around the spheres of government, followed by an educational tour through the Cape Town Childhood Museum in Observatory.

This event was held on Saturday December 10 and marked the final day of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign, a United Nations campaign that takes place annually from November 25 (International Day of No Violence against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

Saskiah van Niekerk enjoyed the freedom to write and create artwork on the wall.

They were then free to explore and the day ended with a lovely lunch and fun in the sun.

Mia Morgan was eager to take a photo with her favourite icon, the late Nelson Mandela.

“Twelve of our girls in our after-school programme are child government monitors for the office of the Western Cape Commissioner for Children. They just finished their second year as child government monitors. They were invited by the commissioner to the childhood museum,” said Wendy Abrahams founder of Advance Edukos Foundation in Bayview.
