On Saturday July 2 Jean Jacobs, was inducted to serve a second term as president of Lions Club Mitchell’s Plain.
The club forms part of the world’s largest service organisation, serving their communities in various ways.
Ms Jacobs joined the Lions Clubs in 2017, after being invited to the charter dinner of the Mitchell’s Plain club.
“Sitting in that room, my body, mind and spirit were arrested as I heard about the great service these like-minded people do in their communities,” she said.
In 2021 club members voted her in as president for the first time.
“We have been privileged to continue great projects such as our Baby Box project to MOUs and Mitchell’s Plain District hospital – where we deliver a starter pack of baby necessities to moms in need, to name a few of the projects we do,” she said.
“I’m humbled that my club saw it fit to vote me into the role of president again. We look forward to another year of service within our communities and living up to the saying ‘where there’s a need, there’s a Lion’,” she said.
“My desire for our Club in this new fiscal year is not that we do service for recognition, but instead, service worthy of recognition,” said Ms Jacobs.
