It’s all systems go for a planned netball tournament on Sunday May 19, at the netball courts in Hilary Way, Lavender Hill, says tournament director, Clive Jacobs, who has been involved with the sport for more than 40 years.
He said the aim of the tournament is to initiate a revival of netball in the area and to counter the current wave of negativity.
Netball, he said, is enjoyed by men and women of all ages and might just be the antidote needed to help curb crime.
Entries cost R300 a team with silverware and medals up for grabs in both sections, Jacobs said. The cut-off for entries is Friday May 17.
Jacobs hopes the tournament will help to kickstart the launch of a mini and senior league.

“I am hoping to get the attention off all our communities on the Cape Flats so we can work together to curb crime,“ he said.
“Our youth have got nothing and nowhere to go. There is nothing happening to excite our youth,” he said.
“I have invited teams from all over the city, including the members of the Mitchell’s Plain Netball Union to make sure they are represented in our tournament,” Jacobs said.
