Councillor Eddie Andrews, and attendees at the capacity building workshop for community organisations.

Sixty Mitchell’s Plain non-profit organisations (NPOs) completed a two-day workshop on the importance of good governance and compliance at the Wolfgat Sub-council chamber in Lentegeur on Tuesday May 21. Ward 78 councillor Eddie Andrews and the Department of Social Development hosted the programme, which included modules on the NPO Act and compliance; good governance; South African Revenue Service (SARS) compliance; NPO legal definitions; and an introduction to fund-raising. He said that organisations extend the reach of the City of Cape Town with their sustained focus in a particular beneficiary community. Anyone interested to attend the next workshop, in two months time, can email, WhatsApp 067 140 1405 or call the office on 021 374 1122.
