Vandals left Lentegeur residents without electricity for close to 20 hours, after they cut a local transformer cable at Appeliefie sub-station during load shedding in the early hours of Friday January 31. The electricity went out at midnight and was only restored after 7pm. Phindile Maxiti, mayoral committee member for energy and climate change, said contractors were dispatched to repair the cable as there was no alternative supply for the consumers. The cable termination was repaired and supply restored but the cost involved in restoring the damages is unknown at this stage.
