False Bay TVET College hospitality student Chanda du Plooy, of Strandfontein, won the Lancewood pastry category in the annual Young Stars Showcook Initiative Competition 2022. This was announced at the awards dinner hosted by the Mount Nelson Hotel. The winning dessert pastry was a pistachio and almond chocolate cake with ClemenGold sauce. Ms Du Plooy won a three-month internship in France at Chateau de la Cruezette, a KitchenAid mixer and an assortment of baking utensils and accessories.
