■ Aloe High School in Lentegeur is proud to once again be part of the Shakespeare School Festival. This festival is important to communities such as Mitchell’s Plain because it gives pupils the opportunity to experience the construction of live performances first-hand and then to share their creation on a professional stage, while mastering a Shakespeare play. This year Aloe High School presented their artistic version of The Taming of the Shrew with an all- female cast at Artscape on Saturday April 21. This dark comedy highlights themes of gender, the institution of marriage, money and family. Other schools such as Vista Nova School in Pinelands performed a variety of Shakespeare plays. De La Bat School of the Deaf in Worcester performed Romeo and Juliet. Pictured is Randall Smith, their teacher and the cast from Aloe High School In Lentegeur who performed The Taming of the Shrew.
