Arthur Pillay, interim chairman of Mitchell’s Plain Older Persons’ Forum
Our executive committee decided at a meeting at Beaconvale Community Frail Care Centre, in Beacon Valley, on Wednesday January 22, that we cannot function without operating costs.
It is for this reason that we are organising a trip to Goudini.
This trip will benefit not only the forum, but also members of the individual senior clubs or organisations they belong to.
We also would like to give those interested a 15-month heads up, so they can pay-off their tickets and so that they can book the necessary chalets.
All of the proceeds will be for the benefit of Mitchell’s Plain senior citizens.
The Mitchell’s Plain Older Persons’ Forum now more than ever has a more clear and concise vision – to remove the focus from senior clubs and focus on seniors rather than clubs.
In this way we envisage reaching each and every senior in Mitchell’s Plain, irrespective of belonging to a club, church, mosque, fitness groups or specifically for those seniors sitting at home, not belonging to any of the above for different reasons.
The forum invites anyone interested to join them on their trip to Goudini from Sunday March 29 until Thursday April 2 next year.
Tickets cost R3 000 for four to five people sharing.
It includes transport accommodation and meals will be supplied by Goudini.
For more information about the trip call Una Sables on 083 687 4154 or Margerie Grovers on 076 143 7649.
Any seniors’ clubs interested in participating in the City of Cape Town’s Golden Games in March can collect an entry form from the Beaconvale Community Frail Care Centre, in Beacon Valley.
The games include 20 members, aged 60 and older, per club.
This would include caregivers. No children are allowed.
