Police are investigating a case of murder after a 28-year-old man was shot dead at the bus stop in Anna Marie Street, Beacon Valley, on Sunday morning, March 10.
The man sustained gunshot wounds to his head, stomach and back.
Police found his body lying on the pavement at 6am.
Two suspects were apparently seen in a red VW Caddy but there have been no arrests.
In another murder investigation, a 59-year-old man was taken to Groote Schuur Hospital after being shot in the neck and right arm in Botha Street, Eastridge, on Tuesday March 5, but later died.
No one has been arrested.
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Constable Morgan de Bruyn of Mitchell’s Plain Serious and Violent Crimes Unit at 082 777 8076.
Mitchell’s Plain SAPSspokesperson Captain Ian Williams urged residents to clearly mark their dustbins with their name, house number, street name and serial numbers as several dustbins are stolen every day in the area.
“We also urge the community not to leave their dustbin outside after the dirt has been collected by the council as it creates an opportunity for thieves to steal the dustbin.”
Police said most incidents of theft of dustbins occur on refusal removal days. Mitchell’s Plain police are warning those who are found to be in possession of dustbins which they are unable to prove ownership of that they will be arrested for being in possession of presumed stolen property, said Captain Williams.
