A 37-year-old man was arrested after Mitchell’s Plain police’s crime prevention unit confiscated a black Star 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off, two magazines and 17 rounds of 9mm live ammunition on Monday January 21, at 12.30am.
They were doing crime prevention duties when they received a complaint of a firearm being kept at a house in Dolomites Street, Tafelsig.
Captain Ian Williams, Mitchell’s Plain police station spokesman, said the man, a suspected gang member, was due to appear at Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Tuesday January 22.
A 38-year-old man was arrested after police acted on a tip off that drugs were being kept at a house in Farrier Street, Westridge, on Saturday January 19, at about 4pm.
Police confiscated 20 grams of tik, 64 small packets of tik and seven whole mandrax tablets, with a street value of R7 000.
The man was due to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 21.
Morethan two hours later they arrested a 27-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman after they found 29 mandrax tablets, 20 small packets of tik and 13 half mandrax tablets at a house in Platteklip Street, Tafelsig.
The man and woman were due to appear at the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 21.
Mitchell’s Plain police’s designated liquor unit confiscated 16.75 litres of alcohol from a house in Buccaneer Street, Rocklands, on Friday January 18.
A 36-year-old woman was arrested and was due to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 21 on charges of dealing in liquor without a licence.
