John Cloete, from United Public Safety Front (UPSF),
The United Public Safety Forum wishes to raise its voice against the unacceptable high levels of children and young people being killed on the Cape Flats.
Do our lives still matter?
The police are allowing gangsters unfettered access to weapons and we call for a stop to this.
We call on deputy provincial commissioner for detective services Jeremy Vearey to restore Project Impi, a report on a firearms investigation, to trace the firearms.
We also call on him to lead the quest for safety and security in the province by dealing with this upsurge and unabated gang violence.
Communities of Elsies River, Mitchell’s Plain, Uitsig, Manenberg and other areas have lost confidence in the provincial police, the provincial government and their ability to protect our communities.
We furthermore call on community police forums (CPFs) and neighbourhood watches to withdraw their support from South African Police Service (SAPS) until the safety of our women and children are secured.
