Gatesville entertainer Jayson King will present his Great Pretenders 25th anniversary concert on Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22 at the Joseph Stone Auditorium, at 8pm.
Growing up in the culturally vibrant District Six, Mr King immersed himself in the music of Elvis Presley, Engelbert Humperdink and Julio Iglesias among others during the challenging apartheid years.
Now, at 71 years old, and a veteran of the old school, he brings these great musical stars to life in his renowned stage performances.
The women of the Great Pretenders will pay homage to Diana Ross and the Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas and the Shirelles.
The male cast members will entertain with their soulful acapella songs, taking the audience back to the music of
the early 60s with the sounds of The Platters, Bachelors, Sha Na Na, Manhattans, 4 Tops and others.
The cast includes Christine Mathee, Charmaine Allisson, Ruth Knight, Rashaad Adams, Tony Butler, Dennis Maart and Jacques-
Hector Smith.
Tickets cost R120 and are available from Naju at 021 633 4299 or or 021 633 9137.
