Tafelsig mothers are dishing up hearty meals to help address various social ills in their community. Healing Well, a community feeding programme, was funded by a group of community workers, who felt compelled to formalise activities in their area. Beatrice Leng and Wendy Williams made their kitchens available to cook in, while Thelma Adams, Deidre van Rooyen, Zelda Abrahams and other neighbours pitched in to help distribute the food and occupy the children. Ms Leng said: “I am proud of the team as every day is a hustle and everyone puts shoulder to the wheel to ensure success.” She said the lockdown had devastated her neighbours and the broader community.
