Five generations

Anna O’Connor, centre, turns 90 today, Wednesday January 17. With her are her eldest daughter, Soeraya Salie, 66, her eldest grand-daughter Najoemia Baatjies, 47, her eldest great-granddaughter Zaida Thompson, 26, and her only great-great grandchildren Laeeqah, 4, and Natheerah Thompson, 11 months. Ms O’Connor, who lives with her daughter in Eastridge, has nine children, eight of whom are still alive, 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Francis O’Connor, passed away in 1989.
