A Woodlands man celebrated his 91st birthday with a prayer meeting at his home, with fellow parishioners from the Annunciation Church yesterday, Tuesday April 16.
William Smith, also known as Jack, has been living with prostate cancer for more than 15 years.
“I am grateful for my wife, without whom there are many things I cannot do.
“I want to thank the Opportunity to Serve Ministry (OTSM) Home-Based Care caregivers for taking such good care of me,” he said.
Speaking to the Plainsman on Friday April 12, he called on all men to do a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test.
The test involves a drop of blood showing the levels of protein, which is produced by the prostate.
High levels may indicate inflammation of the prostate, or even cancer.
“Don’t wait until it is too late,” he said.
Mr Williams did not have any children but said the key to longevity was to honour one’s parents.
“Your days would be lengthened,” he said.
