Legacy-The Siljeur Foundation donated 1 200 adult diapers to Opportunity To Serve More (OTSM) in Woodlands, St Luke’s Community Hospice, St Francis of Assisi in Strandfontein (Fire Flies), Sencit Resthaven in Strand, Cup for Cancer in Strand and three private individuals at a handover at the FROG Centre in Woodlands.
The foundation and its sponsor, Igshaan Toefy of FSSI Installations, have committed themselves to donating adult diapers once a month from this month until March next year with the aim of raising additional funds to ensure the Siljeur Foundation’s continued support to NPOs throughout the year.
“As a charity we understand that human dignity is inherent to every human being, inalienable and independent of the state,” says Heidi Siljeur, project secretary for the foundation.
The foundation had throughout the year raised funds, including through a cancer benefit event at PPC Newlands Cricket Ground as well as the hosting of a male choir choral event in partnership with St Francis of Assisi and the Cape Association of Male Choirs.
Mr Toefy said he was honoured to be associated with Legacy – The Siljeur Foundation and the Dignity Project as the project supported NPOs who provided relief and comfort to not only patients receiving palliative, respite and home-based care, “but also giving their families peace of mind that their loved ones’ dignity was ensured through our small donation”.
