■ Ninety women from the Lentegeur walking bus were acknowledged by Ward 76 councillor Goawa Timm and and Community Safety MEC Dan Plato. At a safety workshop held at Lentegeur civic centre on Friday August 10, which was attended by the women, Ms Timm said: “I would really like to salute these women for their dedication and hard work to keep the children and the community safe.” Mr Plato added: “We started the walking bus in 2017 to create a safe passage for children to and from school. This is to prevent bullying and give comfort to young people knowing that there is someone close by keeping them safe. Lentegeur has great support and is working well over Cape Town. They fulfil a major role for school safety and would like to implement this in other areas as well.”
