The Mitchell’s Plain United Residents’ Association (MURA), court
watch co-ordinator, Linda Jones held a workshop for parents whose
children had died as a result of the ongoing gang violence in
Mitchell’s Plain. It was held on Saturday September 5 at the Alliance
Francais hall in Portland, said Ms Jones, executive member of MURA
for Justice for Victims.
“The parents had to bear the pain of losing a child and also the added
pain of following the long court processes when they come face-toface with the perpetrators,” she said.
“Mothers just broke down recounting the void in the family home. All
they want is justice but the route to justice is painful and traumatic
when they are at the receiving end of unsympathetic officials.”
