Women from Live Free Academy, exercising and focusing on their holistic well-being, have been hard at work initiating community projects in and around Mitchell’s Plain.
They come from all over Mitchell’s Plain and surrounds, to exercise the mind, body and soul at Westridge Gardens every Monday and Wednesday between 6pm and 7pm and at Al-Masjidur Rawbie, in Merrydale Avenue, Portland, when it rains.
They exercise and focus on their holistic well-being with life coaching sessions, discussions on goal setting, self-confidence and tips on improving one’s lifestyle.
Participants, if they can afford it, pay R100 for eight weeks, which is used in the community to do charity.
During March the women have been working in teams to donate clothing, groceries, toiletries, feeding the less fortunate, spent some time with orphans and the aged, where they spread love and cheer.
Beneficiary organisations include Baitul Ansaar Childcare Centre in Eastridge, Beaconvale Community Frail Care Centre in Beacon Valley, Hannah’s Place of Safety in Westridge, Shirley’s House of Grace in Lentegeur, Caty’s Place, an orphanage in Atlantis, residents at 7de Laan informal settlement in Strandfontein and random people, living on the streets in search of food.
Founder and life coach of the academy, Nailah Kippie, said she was proud of the work the women accomplished.
“I am humbled by the amazing teamwork, the hard work and dedication that they
have put into these projects to make it such a success,”she said. “They have used the skills they have learnt and just made it happen.”
Ms Kippie said she was eternally grateful to them, for having brought about a positive change in their community by spreading love, hope and cheer to the less fortunate.
