Comedian Wayne McKay is back by popular demand with his latest project: a fusion of stand-up comedy, dance and improvisation.
The show, On a Point of Order, will be held at Barans Theatre, in Cape Town, this weekend.
“My collection is about the fuss in the country and what is currently happening. My stuff is unique and it’s a mixture of Afrikaans and English, which captures everything which is happening now, taken from Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, Speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete, EFF leader Julius Malema and President Jacob Zuma. I’m talking about relevant things and our heritage,” he said.
“This is authentic South African stand-up comedy with many recognised characters.
“Through storytelling, music and dance the show will be highly entertaining and takes audience on a journey they will never forget,” he bragged.
Mckay, 48, has a long history in the industry as a stand-up comedian, actor, radio and television voice-over artist. He is best known by the “Wheelies” video clip on YouTube that has been circulating the globe.
“I’ve performed in many countries, including New Zealand and Australia, and I’ve done many festivals in the country. I’ve been in Johannesburg and Kimberley, sharing the stage with Loyiso Gola, Riaad Moosa and David Kau,” he said.
Mckay said the challenge as a comedian was to fill up the venue.
“I manage to fill up a couple of events. When I’m performing, I do a lot of improvisation in my comedies. I can relate to my audience and dance too,” he said.
Mckay, who is also a manager at Wayne Mckay Events Management, plans to organise a show next month at the Lenteguer Civic Centre. The show will be on Sunday May 27 and Monday May 28, and tickets will cost R250, which includes three-course meals. For bookings contact Wayne Mckay at 082 724 7968.
