Mitchell’s Plain police need help solving the murders of three men and another man wounded in separate incidents within 12 hours of each other.
A flare-up of gang shootings saw a man being shot at through a back door in Leeukop Street, Tafelsig, on Monday November 8 at 8.40am. The man was hit in the hip.
This was after the target, a 38-year-old man, en route to visit his child, was approached by the shooter and ran towards his home, where the other man was in the backyard.
The victim was taken to Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital.
Mitchell’s Plain police station spokesman, Captain Ian Williams, said the motive is gang related.
A man, 29, was arrested and is due in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday November 10, on charges of attempted murder.

A man, 22, was stabbed to death in Judo Street, Beacon Valley, at 9.20pm on Sunday November 7. A broken blade was left stuck inside his chest.
Captain Williams said the murder was gang related and that no one had been arrested. “Police are investigating a case of murder,” he said.
Two hours later, police were called to Mitchell’s Plain Community Health Centre (day hospital), where a man, 19, died after being stabbed in the neck.
Captain Williams said the teen had been in an argument with another teen who also had a knife and a fight ensued in Hockey Street, Beacon Valley.
The 17-year-old suspect faces a charge of murder and was due to appear in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on the charge yesterday, Tuesday November 9.
The body of a man, 40, was found at the corner of Boekenhout and Kiaat streets, Eastridge, on Sunday November 7 at 11.40pm. He was shot in his left shoulder.
Captain Williams said the man was allegedly shot in Klipspringer Street, Eastridge, and ran to Boekenhout Street, where he collapsed and died.
Police are investigating a case of murder and have marked the murder as gang related.
