Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital’s Mental Health Ward staff and in-patients will be temporarily relocated for three months to the Lentegeur Hospital’s Magnolia Ward (Ward 91).
They will be in Ward 91 from Sunday November 20 to February next year, due to floor renovations scheduled to take place within the stipulated time period.
The hospital staff and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team will be on duty to ensure the safe and smooth relocation of patients to the temporary ward.
Clients presenting to the facility for mental health care must still go via the emergency centre for an assessment, and a psychiatric doctor on duty will determine the diagnosis of the patient’s care and whether the patient will be admitted to the temporary ward.
Visitors should enter the Lentegeur Hospital’s entrance via Highlands Drive to gain access to the Magnolia Ward during visiting hours from 2pm to 3pm and 7pm to 8pm weekly. A strict security system will be put in place to monitor the in-patients and visitors are asked to adhere to staff instructions for security and safety measures. For more information, contact the hospital at 021 377 4300.
