For the past 10 years, Cape Community Newspapers, which publishes this paper and its 14 sister titles has been the print media partner of the Woolworths/MySchool Move for Health campaign through which we encourage youngsters – as well as their parents and teachers – to start practising health habits. The campaign culminates in a 6km fun run which is part of the Landmarks half marathon event organised by Western Province Cricket Club’s running division. Part of the campaign includes a mass participation challenge through which schools which have the highest number of participants can win prizes. This year the winner in the category for schools with an enrolment of fewer than 400, was once again Ottery Youth Care Centre, while Chapel Street Primary took the top spot in the category for schools with more than 400 pupils. Rocklands-based Caradale Primary were named second place winners in the category for schools with an enrolment of more than 400 pupils, winning R4 000 for their efforts.
