Mitchell’s Plain police have made several arrests for serious crimes, including drug possession, and are also investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Westridge and the fatal stabbing of another man in Tafelsig.
On Friday March 5, at 9am, Mitchell’s Plain SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting in Pruim Street, Westridge.
At the scene, police were shown the body of a 27-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his head and neck lying inside the house.
A white VW City Golf with a black roof with unknown registration had allegedly pulled up in front of the house. One of the occupants got out of the vehicle, went to the front door and shot at the deceased, who died on on the scene.
The suspects fled and no one has been arrested yet. The motive is gang related and police are investigating a case of murder.

In another incident on Saturday March 6 at 4.30pm, Lentegeur SAPS Crime Prevention Unit received information of firearms being kept at a premises in John Dykman Street, New Woodlands.
Police searched the premises with permission and found various types of live ammunition on the premises and arrested a woman, 22, for possession of ammunition.
In another incident, a man with unknown age, was stabbed at a house in Tafelsig.
On Sunday March 7 at 12.30am, Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a report of a stabbing at a house in Vlakkenberg Street, Tafelsig.
The victim, who was stabbed on the left side of his back, was allegedly brought to his house by four men, who told his family that he had been stabbed.
Before succumbing to his injuries, the man made a declaration to a family member. Police investigations led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man who faces a charge of murder. He appeared in court on the charge.

In another incident on the same day, Lentegeur police patrolled in Katrina Harris, New Woodlands, at 4.30pm when they received information about drugs being sold at a house in the street.
A man noticed the marked vehicle and ran into the house and police followed. Police found a woman, 18, in a room, and with permission, searched the room and found hidden in a pillow, a plastic bag containing heroin and tik and arrested the woman, 18, for possession of drugs.
In another unrelated incident on the same day, a case of possession of drugs is under investigation after a man, 45, was arrested at a premises in Wren Sargent Street, New Woodlands, at 6.30pm.
Police searched the premises with permission from the owner and found an undisclosed amount of various drugs at the premises and arrested the man.
In another unrelated incident, on the same day, a case of possession of drugs is under investigation after a man, 32, was arrested in Azalia Street, Lentegeur, at 6.30pm.
Police noticed a man selling drugs and when they approached the man, he ran into a house in the street. Police followed the man and found a plastic bag containing tik and arrested the man.
The arrested suspects were all charged and appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday March 8 and Tuesday March 9.
