Police arrest three for drugs, illegal sale of alchol

Police confiscated liquor that was sold illegally in Eastridge.

A 27-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of drugs with a street value of R7 000 in Squirrel Street, Eastridge, on Tuesday June 20, at 4.20pm.

Mitchell’s Plain Crime prevention unit members caught him with 32g of tik and 50 mandrax tablets.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for selling liquor without a licence in Bontebok Crescent, Eastridge, on Wednesday June 21, at 1.40pm.

The Mitchell’s Plain Designated Police Officers for firearms, liquor and second-hand goods (DPO) found two chest freezers full of beer. According to police, the liquor amounted to more than 335 litres of alcohol.

A 38-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of 48 dagga stoppe and loose dagga in a newspaper in Badminton Street, Beacon Valley, on Wednesday June 21.

The Mitchell’s Plain Crime prevention unit members had seen the man coming out of a suspected drug den and stopped to search him.

Mitchell’s Plain station acting commander Colonel Anthony Roux said the police will continue tirelessly to clamp down on crime in the area.

He thanked all involved for their hard work and dedication, and urged the community to form part of the structures and to contact their respective sector commander with tip-offs.
