New creche

Shining Star early childhood development (ECD) centre in Rocklands opened for about 20 pupils, aged between six weeks and four years old, on Wednesday January 10. Chief executive officer Nigel Maggott, who has served on the Mandalay Education Forum and on the committee of Ward 116, handling the ECD portfolio, opened a creche “with a difference”, after working for the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) for 22 years and playing a pivotal role in establishing the Mandalay Educare Centre. Mr Maggott said the curriculum is broad-based and requires the involvement of the community, parents, staff and the pupils to build a strong foundation for society.
