Lorraine Apollis, Woodlands
He was buried from PPK (Pinkster Protestante Kerk) in New Woodlands on Saturday November 12.
He gave his life to the people, driving them up and down. He was dad and granddad to them all in Mitchell’s Plain and Parkwood Estate.
My father was instrumental in many ways, first for starting New Woodlands Assembly Church, in 1983; he was an elder and known for his charity work.
He was a painter for more than 50 years, and his accomplishments included working at Ysterplaat Air Force Base.
He received donations and support from local businesses, including Lentegeur Pharmacy and Mr Cyster, a fruit and vegetable broker, who shared with the destitute.
Isaac Hermanus, vice-chairperson of the recently elected Woodlands Residents’ Association, said he was a true community man and would be sorely missed. He is survived by his three daughters and nine grandchildren.
