Bambi, a hippo that has been on lockdown at the Strandfontein Cape Flats Wastewater Treatment Works, since November, has been taken to a new home. Bambi was moved to a pan at the treatment works after staff from the City’s False Bay Nature Reserve spotted the hippo in Rondevlei. The sick hippo roamed separately from the hippo herds at the reserve. A boma with an electric fence was built at the pan to keep the hippo isolated while it recovered and a new home was found for it. It was moved to Bergsig, a game farm in Mossel Bay, on Monday June 22.
