A Rocklands couple would like some play equipment and support to further beautify a public open space on the corner of Kitty Hawk Street and Avenger Road.
Moerida and Amien Abrahams, and Freddy Stevens have been working on the corner plot for the last three years after asking for help from ward councillor Danny Christians for up to eight years.
“I had an appointment with him and he promised to come but he never showed up,” said Mr Abrahams.
He said they need a slide and a merry-go-round, a bit of fencing and speed bumps bordering the park.
“There are two schools in close proximity to the park and motorists drive recklessly,” he said.
Mr Abrahams bought a boat, which children are able to play in, collected tyres and paid people to paint and help clean the area with his pension.
He said he had also been to the council yard but to no avail.
Mr Christians said the spot had been beautified and the relevant Parks’ superintendent was on leave, when Plainsman visited the space on Thursday March 28.
“Mr Abrahams requires assistance with the beautification of the park, he is caring for, and only Parks will be able to assist him,” he said.
