The auditions for artists and entertainers who want to perform on the main stage at the 2018 DStv Mitchell’s Plain Festival will take place at the centre court of Westgate Mall, on Saturday September 22 at 9am. Registration opens at 8am.
The festival will take place at Westridge Gardens between Friday November 30 and Sunday December 2 and is a highlight on the Cape Flats social calendar drawing together business, civil society, government departments and ordinary people.
In 2017, more than 44 000 patrons passed through the gates with 1 000s more being sent away due to capacity challenges.
More than 110 local artists, entertainers, vocal groups and dance groups have already registered to participate in these auditions.
These excludes the live bands who applied to perform at the festival. No live bands will be allowed to perform on Saturday December 1.
From the more than 100 artists and entertainers only 20 will be performing at the festival. Late registrations will be made possible until 3pm on Friday September 21. Those using background music must take along their memory sticks with their music on the morning of Saturday September 22.
Final registrations will take place between 8am and 8.30am. The first artist or entertainer will perform at 9am. The judges’ decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. No late arrivals will be allowed to audition.
The general public may attend and show some support for these up and coming artists.
