Hundreds of pupils, from Mitchell’s Plain, the Eastern Cape, Vredendal and Elsies River High will take part in the 11th annual Mitchell’s Plain Schools’ Marching and Drill Competition.

All of the preparations have been done to ensure a low risk, safe and fun filled family event, at the Soccer Oval, at the Stephen Reagon sports field in Westridge on Saturday October 13.

The event will be weapon, drug and alcohol free. Entry is free.

Medical personnel, neighbourhood watch members and police officers will be on standby at the event.

A team from the City of Cape Town’s disaster risk management will be deployed and 10 law enforcement officers will assist the police.

The Mitchell’s Plain Community Police Forum will have 35 members from their Child Rapid Response Unit to tag children and to activate searches should a child go missing.
