Mitchell’s Plain SAPS are investigating a case of carjacking after a woman was robbed of her car in Baden Powell Drive.
The woman, 38, was parked along Baden Powell Drive in the direction of Macassar on Tuesday March 24 at about 11.30pm when three unknown men approached the vehicle and threw a big object through the windscreen, breaking it.
The woman was forced out of the car and the robbers then made off with the car, a white VW Golf with registration CAA 155 134.
No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Mitchell’s Plain SAPS have, however, issued a warning again to people not to park in isolated beach areas late at night or during early morning hours, especially along the Baden Powell Drive beach strip, which include Mnandi Beach, Wolfgat Nature Reserve, Blue Waters Beach and Strandfontein Pavilion. People are most vulnerable to attacks as these very same isolated spots become traps for them.

In another incident under investigation, a man was shot in his head while sleeping inside a wendy house in Eastridge.
Mitchell’s Plain SAPS was called to a shooting on Sunday April 11 at 8.20am, on the corner of Fox Road and Spine Road, Eastridge.
The 38-year-old man had allegedly been sleeping inside the wendy house when gunshots were heard. It was discovered that the deceased had been shot in the head. He was declared dead by paramedics.
Police retrieved two cartridges on the scene. The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related.
Police are investigating a case of murder and no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the investigation officer, Detective-Constable Sibongile Mantyi of Mitchell’s Plain Serious and Violent Crimes Unit, on 082 777 8076.
In another fatal gang-related shooting on Friday April 9, at 8.25pm, a 21-year-old man was killed in Sunderland Street in Rocklands.
Allegedly the deceased man had been sitting on the corner of Sunderland and Lighting streets when he was approached by unknown men. One of the suspects shot the deceased in the back of his head.
A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of three men aged 25, 29 and 30. The suspects faces charge of murder and they are expected to appear in court soon.
On Wednesday April 7, at about 7.30am, Mitchell’s Plain sector commanders received information on a break-in that had taken place at a shoe store in Town Centre.
Follow-up information by police led to the arrest of a suspect found in possession of some of the stolen items identified as belonging to the shoe store.
Police confiscated several pairs of shoes, including Le Coq Sportif, Converse All Star, Reebok and Vela takkies.
They arrested a 51-year-old man who faces charges relating to the possession of stolen property. The suspect, a gang member, is expected to soon appear in court.
In another case on the same day, at 9.40pm, Mitchell’s Plain SAPS noticed a red Golf with registration CA193693 parked in Simonsig Street, Westridge.
When police approached the vehicle, the driver drove off, but police managed to stop the vehicle. When police searched the vehicle, they found a magazine with three live rounds.
Police arrested two men aged 25 and 28, who face a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition.
The men, who are not gang members, are expected to appear in court soon.
