Randy Tango has been sentenced to three life terms for killing Stacha Arendse, 11, of Tafelsig.
Songs of victory rang out in the Cape High Court on Monday morning, as Judge Robert Henney carried out sentencing for Tango, the Daily Voice reported.
Judge Henney said strong DNA evidence had linked Tango to the girl’s final moments on March 27, 2017 in Matroosberg Street, Tafelsig.
Tango also received a 10-year sentence for statutory rape after he admitted he had sex with an underage 14-year-old girl in November 2008.
He was 23 years old at the time and the teenager gave birth to a baby nine months later.
Judge Henney said Tango had robbed the woman, who is now 23-years-old, of her childhood and that he had taken advantage of her immaturity.
Judge Henney did not indicate whether the sentences would run concurrently.
According to the Daily Voice, in a plea explanation last week, Tango told the court that Stacha had asked him not to hurt her and that he killed her when she said she was going to tell her mother that he had raped her.
Judge Henney said Tango was a sexual predator who had lured Stacha into the lion’s den with the intention to sexually assault her.
Tango’s name will be added to the sexual predator offences register.
