The Cape Town Association for the Physically Disabled (CTAPD), a non-profit organisation, is appealing to the public to support its Buckets of Hope campaign..
The organisation wants to provide 200 hampers of non-perishable foods to the physically disabled across the metro, particularly those in poorer communities.
The project usually continues through to February, says CTAPD’s Fatima Martin.
“In addition, we run a food bank throughout the year to provide for the needs of clients who struggle to meet their most basic need for food.
“Since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown many people have lost their jobs or have had a reduction in salary. While the disability grant was increased slightly for the duration of the lockdown, there have been family members whom our clients rely on, who have found themselves unemployed for reasons beyond their control. The result is that more families have to rely solely on the state grants in order to get by. It is for this reason that we feel the necessity to reach out to as many of our clients and their families as possible.”
One Bucket of Hope costs R200. Donations of cash or non-perishable food are welcome.
