Six men, aged 19, 22 and 24, were arrested for the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man at his home in Botha Street, Eastridge.
Police found the deceased on the ground in Botha Street on Sunday March 24, at 12.05am. He sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his chest.
While the motive appears to have been gang-related, the victim was not a gang member. The suspects appeared in court on Tuesday March 26 at the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court.
The case is being investigated by SAPS’ Anti-Gang Unit.
Police also arrested a 32-year-old man in Woodlands for being in possession of drugs, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On Sunday March 24 at 10.30pm, members of Anti-Gang Unit Tactical Response Team noticed the man carrying a carrier bag. They stopped and searched the suspect in Pasteurhof Street, Woodlands and found that he had 100 dagga stoppe, 1 604 units of heroine, 13 live rounds and a 9mm pistol in his possession.
The suspect faces a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and charges relating to possession of drugs.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
