Community organisation, Guardian Angels celebrated the closing of Mandela month on Saturday July 28. Founder Patricia October, 60, said: “I make soup in my road, and the community then called me the soup lady. We decided to host this event for our community. Young people are standing on the corners of the streets involved in the wrongs things, and we would like to change this. We would especially like to help the women in the area. We are so afraid of stepping out of our houses because of the gang violence.” Ms October has been living in Rocklands for 42 years and remains passionate about the people in and around her community.
