Reverend Tanelle Welff-Dixon, a Mitchell’s Plain resident, was recently honoured by the Progressive Baptist Church of Lafayette in Louisiana, America, for her work in both South Africa and in America over the past decade. Ms Welff-Dixon, a businesswoman, international motivational speaker, rape survivor and social justice advocate, studied theology in America for five years before returning to South Africa. She and her husband, Clint Dixon, is currently in America to finalise an international job creation project between South Africa and America. “There is a big social responsibility component to this project that will see areas like Mitchell’s Plain, Kraaifontein, Khayelitsha and other similar areas benefit from this international project and with God’s help we foresee the project to start in early 2017,” said Ms Welff-Dixon.
