Zahid Badroodien, acting mayoral committee member for Human Settlements
The story “Spotlight on housing” (Plainsman, February 12) and an inquiry from the Plainsman about the earliest applicant registered with the housing database,
refer.
The applicant registered in 1972 and has previously declined housing opportunities that have been offered as the applicant prefers to live in specific areas.
There are currently no Breaking New Ground or City Rental housing opportunities available in these specific areas of preference as indicated by the applicant.
Each project has a cut-off date determined by the project steering committee, to ensure that all people who have been registered
on the housing database the longest
are assisted before more recently registered applicants are approached.
