Westridge-based Phoenix SA Gymnastics Club made its first appearance at a major local competition when the club’s youngsters took to the floor at the Cape Town District trials held in Eversdal, in Brackenfell, a fortnight ago, coming away with one gold, nine silver and two bronze medals.
They are now gearing up for the Western Cape championships, which will take place in Stellenbosch, in July.
Established in December, the club caters for little ones aged 2 to 5, who do recreational gymnastics, and those aged 6 and older who perform competitively.
Training session are held on Fridays from 2pm to 5pm and on Saturday’s from 10am to 1pm, at Parkhurst Primary School, in Park Avenue.
