Jayden Gabriels, Tafelsig High School representative council of learners (RCL) sub-committee chairperson
I am 16 years old.
I want to say thank you to all of the pupils in Mitchell’s Plain for attending school this year.
You did not drop out of school.
It just shows that our young people in Mitchell’s Plain have a goal and a dream in our communities and schools.
I also wish all pupils every success for the outcome of their end of year examinations.
It was a great year for our RCL, getting sponsors for our school and to help our pupils.
I also want to thank the office of former mayor Dan Plato for sponsoring our pupils with a few things; and thank you to our school governing body members, kitchen staff and teachers for working hard this year and having the time to care for all of pupils at school.
As the youth chairman of the Cape Flats Safety Forum, and a member of Children’s Voice, and the Youth Desk child rapid response unit (CRRU) – I ask all young people to come and join things that can keep you busy for the holidays and work in the community rather than doing nothing or sitting on corners.
We are the children for the children.
The life outside in the streets is not the same like it was. All young people die from a young age and some go missing or get raped.
To stop things like that or to join youth programmes, call me on 081 776 7005 or send an email to jayden.communities2022@gmail.com
