Women for Change from Beacon Valley held a charity initiative in Ellis Park Crescent, Beacon Valley, Saturday June 26 to mark Youth Day (June 16). A group of youth who go by the name Die Valley se Kinnes did a short skit about the Soweto Uprising of June 16, 1976 and spoke out about their own struggles they face, said co-chairwoman Zulpha Bredeveldt.
She said the children had expressed that they had had enough of gangsterism and drugs, political corruption and the fear of losing their lives.
The organisers, Ms Bredeveldt, Shariah Damon, Sharifa Fisher,Tasneem Damon, Mariam Dollie, Shamiela Dollie, Zaida Bredeveldt and Shakeera Dollie said they were grateful to the neighbours who contributed to the event.
