Woman’s body found in bush

No arrest has been made in connection with the murder.

Mitchell’s Plain police found the half naked body of a woman, aged between 18 and 24, in the bush on Weltevreden Parkway, opposite Rondevlei on Freedom Day, Monday April 27.

Spokesman Captain Ian Williams said she might have been raped and her hands had been tied behind her back.

She was lying about 40 metres from the road between bushes and trees. Police are investigating a case of murder and rape. No one has been arrested.

* An alleged gang member was due in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Tuesday April 28, for allegedly being in possession of ammunition without a licence.

Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a tip-off and searched a house in Bering Street, Rocklands, on Saturday April 25, at about 8am. They confiscated 39 R1 live rounds and arrested the 40-year-old man.

lA man, 38, appeared in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court for allegedly being in possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence. The man was arrested during Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) crime-prevention duties in Garcia Street, Tafelsig, on Wednesday April 22.

They received a tip-off and searched the premises, where they confiscated a black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol without a serial number, a silver magazine with orange lip and 15 live 9mm rounds.

* A man, 37, appeared in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Thursday April 23 for allegedly being in possession of an imitation firearm and a box of stolen medication. Police arrested him in Fourth Avenue, Town Centre, on Wednesday April 22.

* A stolen vehicle was recovered at Liberty Promenade Mall on Tuesday April 21, at 4.10pm.

The police responded to a complaint of the gold Opel Corsa in the parking lot. They found the vehicle had been stolen in Claremont.

A man, 42, appeared in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Friday April 24 on a charge of being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

* On Thursday April 23, Mitchell’s Plain police arrested a man, 29, for possession of a large quantity of dagga. The man appeared in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Friday April 24.
