The fisherfolk and visitors to the Strandfontein Beach area have been hoping, praying for the past few years that the Broken Road facilities, the surrounding area and the Strandfontein Pavilion get an upgrade.
While fishing on Saturday May 11, a fisherman asked me and many other fisherfolk, whether we were happy about our fishing area.
We all bemoaned the lack of safety and upgrade which prevented all of us from bringing our families to this beach area.
He then suggested the development of a Strandfontein Waterfront, where business, take-aways and little shops can be created with their security and so create for the Cape Flats a place to visit up the road, next to the beach.
He also highlighted that at the entrance next to Baden Powell and Strandfontein Roads a petrol station needed to be created.
As this fisherman cast his proposal I could see his vision come alive in my mind and I am now trying to sell his vision to the City fathers.
I could see my fellow residents from the Cape Flats sharing his vision and visiting, on their doorstep, their own Waterfront.
