Mitchell’s Plain police found a firearm and ammunition at a Tafelsig house after receiving a tip-off that drugs were being sold at a house in Diagonal Street.
Police received the call around 5.20am on Thursday February 3 and when they searched the house, found a black CZ75B, 9MM with no serial number and one magazine with 17 live rounds of ammunition.
Officers arrested a man, 36, who will appear in court soon on a charge of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. The man is believed to be a gang member.
In a separate case, a man, 44, was arrested in Eastridge for being in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Around 4pm on Tuesday February 1, Mitchell’s Plain police officers saw a man coming out of well-known drug house in 6th Avenue, Eastridge.
When they stopped the man and searched him, they found a firearm with ammunition, on him.
The man, who police say is a gang member, was arrested and appeared in court on a charge of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
