A Rocklands man, 33, is due to appear in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s court after police confiscated a firearm which had been stolen in Manenberg.
The man was one of five men and two women, who were in front of a house in Bronze Street on Monday April 13 at about 1.30am.
Lentegeur police were doing lockdown patrols when the group started scattered and ran as police approached.
The officers gave chase and saw one of the men discard an something while he ran.
Upon inspection police found a black 9mm Browning short firearm with serial number 9307800 and three live rounds of ammunition in the magazine.
The man faces a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
A man accused of breaking in at Shoprite, in Rocklands, was due in Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Tuesday April 14.
He had broken into the store at about 6pm on Thursday April 9. Goods worth R4 000 were recovered.
The man, 36, faces charges of housebreaking, theft and being in possession of stolen property.
