Mitchell’s Plain police are investigating two cases of murder and one case of attempted murder after two men were shot dead and a woman injured in Spreeu Street, Rocklands, on Sunday October 30.
The men, aged 21 and 38, were shot in the head just before 9pm and died on the scene. The 29-year-old woman was shot in both legs and was found lying in a shop.
According to the police, the victims were on their way to the shop when the incident occurred.
The police said residents saw a white Toyota Tazz driving away from the scene.
The suspects are unknown and the shooting is believed to be a case of mistaken identity. There has been no arrests yet and the investigation continues.

Five people – two men, two women and a teenager – between the ages of 17 and 49 were arrested in Guava Street, Tafelsig, on Monday October 31 for being in possession of a .22 pistol with nine live rounds of ammunition, drugs with an estimated street value of R8 000 and cash.
The drugs found were 54.38 grams of tik and 10 dagga stoppe, an electronic scale and R 4 957.
Mitchell’s Plain police spokesperson, Captain Ian Williams, said these arrests were as a result of a high density SAPS cluster operation in the Mitchell’s Plain policing precinct, held from 7.30am on Monday. The operation consisted of members from various police stations including Visible Policing, the detective service, Crime Intelligence and support personnel.
All the suspects will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on charges relating to the illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition and possession of drugs.
Police have urged the community to get involved in the safety structures and to report crime to Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Information will be treated as confidential.
The Mitchell’s Plain police cluster has also warned residents that there is an increase in crime along the beachfront area. Captain Williams said people parking in isolated spots along the beach make themselves vulnerable to hijackings, robberies, theft and other types of crime.
“Recent media reports have also indicated that fishermen are not safe from these robbers either. Please ensure that the area where you are parked is safe. Be aware of your surroundings and keep your vehicle locked at all times. Ensure that there are ample exit routes should the need for a getaway arise in any emergency,” he said.
Captain Williams added that residents should avoid dense and high bushes where they are unable to see people or vehicles approaching them.
“As far as possible, stick to the public spaces where there are officials on duty in case of an emergency. Try to move in a group as it is a safer option,” he said.
A 30-year-old man faces a charge of possession of suspected stolen property after he was arrested on Thursday October 20 in AZ Berman Street, Eastridge, for being in possession of a council dirtbin that does not belong to him.
Captain Williams said the man was not the lawful owner of the bin and all bins are council property. “It should not be used to transport of goods,” he said.
