The City of Cape Town will be pruning bluegum trees, along Eros, Ajax and Flora roads, in Woodlands.
Dr Zahid Badroodien, mayoral committee member for community services and health, said the 30- to 40-year-old trees were also known as Eucalyptus gomphocephala.
He said the tree-pruning technique was called topping as they had overgrown with a dense canopy, posing a danger to residents and their properties.
Dr Badroodien asked that residents note that the City pruned trees and that bark stripping was illegal.
