* It took a year of blood, sweat, tears – and many late nights – but Thursday April 14 was a day to celebrate as Plainsman reporter Kaylynn Palm, left, graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology with her BTech degree in Journalism. Kaylynn joined the Plainsman team as an intern in 2011 before she was appointed full-time in June 2013. Kaylynn’s thesis was on “The Representation and Impact of Gangsterism in Newspapers Distributed in the Mitchell’s Plain Area”. She is pictured with fellow Cape Community Newspapers staffer, editorial team leader Adri-Ann Peters, who also graduated with her BTech degree last week.
