A Tafelsig man is SA Property Investors Network’s (SAPIN) Investor of the Year.
Darren Francis, 40, formerly from Tafelsig, now living in Muizenberg, won the “Investor for Change” category, having pipped 11 other finalists to the post for the national annual award.
The awards were handed out at a black-tie awards event, at the Marriott Hotel in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, on Thursday November 18.
According to his citation for the Investor for Change category nomination Mr Francis flipped six properties with the intention to expand into buy-to-let.
His strategy has also focused on creating jobs and sustainable living for his power team.
Mr Francis and the other finalists presented their final pitch to a panel of judges on the night (“Property agent is changing lives”, Plainsman November 17).
Prizes include a three-night stay at Victoria Falls (all expenses paid), sponsorship from ABSA (bond initiation waivers), professional membership to the Property Academy and sponsorship from Private Property.
He encouraged people to never give up.
“Your surroundings do not define you.
“The negative words thrown at your do not define you. You can do anything you set your mind too.
“We are on a journey and remember every stop reflect on the journey, put plans in place to mitigate the problems you encountered and could encounter again and keep moving again,” said Mr Francis.
