Tafelsig NPO focuses on child safety

Tafelsig Sub-forum chairperson, Charmaine Adams handed a certificate to Thusanang Community Development chairperson Beatrice Leng in appreciation of her years of service in the community of Tafelsig.

The Thusanang Community Development non-profit organisation held a Child Protection Week event for the community on Friday June 3 at Helderberg Park, Tafelsig.

Tafelsig Sub-forum chairperson, Charmaine Adams handed a certificate to Thusanang Community Development chairperson Beatrice Leng in appreciation of her years of service in the community of Tafelsig.

Local cadets and Snowdon Youth group provided entertainment. The event was attended by ward councillor, Washiela Harris.

Tafelsig Sub-forum, neighbourhood watch and Walking Bus attended the event to keep watch over the 300 children who attended.

National Child Protection Week took place from Sunday May 29 to Sunday June 5.

According to the national government website, “National Child Protection Week is commemorated in the country annually to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and Children’s Act (Act No. 38 of 2005).”
